The Feed Mill Information Manager (FMIM) is the module that controls feed mill inventories for the SMTS. The FMIM can be used independently or in conjunction with Feed Ingredient Receiving (FIR) for a totally integrated solution. Feed delivery information is transferred back to the Information Management modules for complete feed costs and statistics that can be reported at the group level.

The FMIM begins the process with creating purchase orders based on contract or commodity pricing. Ingredients are received and transferred to the production process to provide accurate feed costs. Feed formulas are created and maintained for costs and nutritional analysis.

Feed Deliveries transferred are from the Feed Delivery Scheduling Assistant (FDSA) to complete the cycle and transfer finish feed to groups in the Sow Information Manager (SIM) and Grower Information Manager (GIM).

Inventory levels are tracked for both ingredients and finished feed. FMIM has the option to use FIFO or Average Cost to track inventory costs. The system also has tracks shrink percentages by comparing book and physical inventory levels.

  • Tracks receipts of ingredients, production of finished feed, and deliveries by weight and costs, including freight costs.
  • Maintains ingredient usage through all feed production.
  • Tracks inventories of all raw feed ingredients and finished feed formulas.
  • Calculates feed formula costing based on first-in, first-out (FIFO) accounting or average price accounting.
  • Shrink reports identify significant physical losses in the milling process.
  • Determines formula manufacturing schedule based on projected deliveries, identifying shortages.
